Performing Arts

A Multi-Dimensional Education

Brooklyn Friends School’s arts programs are integral to our mission of providing a multi-dimensional education for all students. The Performing Arts program includes courses and extracurricular opportunities in dance, drama, music, and technical theater. Classes demand active participation and recognize students as artists with individual strengths to be celebrated in a non-competitive, collaborative environment. Professional faculty teach skills, composition, and appreciation in their areas of expertise.

Lower School students have weekly music and dance classes, and in Middle School, fifth and sixth graders are enrolled in dance, drama, and music while seventh and eighth graders choose performing arts electives.  Upper School students are required to take one or two years of performing arts electives, with choices such as Chamber Ensemble, Chorus, Dance, Theatre, and IB offerings in the 11th & 12th grades.
