Applying to Early Childhood at BFS (Ages 2-4)

Play is the essential work of childhood and an important part of developing cognitive, emotional, and problem-solving skills. Our commitment to nurturing the gifts of each child as an individual provides a warm and stimulating environment where children feel free to explore the world around them. The Brooklyn Friends School Early Childhood program follows a child-centered curriculum that supports individual learning styles and developmental readiness. Our two-year olds begin to discover the world outside home and family and learn about themselves in the context of a community of peers. Our three and four year-olds meet increasingly complex challenges and practice social skills through hands-on, concrete experiences, and become curious, motivated, and competent learners.

To begin the admissions process for Early Childhood at BFS, please create a Ravenna account and submit an online application.

To be considered for admission for the 2025-2026 school year, children must be two (Early Childhood 2s), three (Early Childhood 3s), or four (Early Childhood 4s) years old by September 1, 2025.

Families who apply by the November 25 application deadline will be contacted about next steps. Applications submitted after November 25 will be held in the event that additional interview spots become available.

Step 1: Create a Ravenna profile. You will use Ravenna to complete your online application and all supplemental materials, to register for admissions events, and to submit the application fee.

Step 2: Schedule an interview and visit. Invitations to schedule interviews will be sent via email to families beginning in September.

Early Notification is available for legacy applicants to Early Childhood at BFS. Families who choose Early Notification forgo all other admissions processes and, if admitted, commit to attend Brooklyn Friends School.
