Our Upper School

Preparing Students for College-Level Study

The Upper School offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum for students in grades 9 through 12, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program for juniors and seniors. IB courses are active, thought-provoking, and move far beyond memorization of content, preparing students exceptionally well for college-level study. The Brooklyn Friends Upper School is located at 116 Lawrence Street in Metrotech Center with three levels of state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, art studios, and more.

Our small class sizes and dedicated, experienced faculty ensure that students receive individualized attention, giving them the support, challenge, and encouragement they need to reach their fullest potential. Our faculty is diverse and international, bringing a wide variety of backgrounds and a wealth of perspectives to our learning community, and Upper School students also benefit from the guidance and support of two deans, a school psychologist, a learning specialist, and two college counselors.

Our students have been admitted to some of the most prestigious institutions in the United States and around the world. In addition to challenging academic courses, service learning is a crucial and required part of our curriculum. Students also participate in varsity and junior varsity sports, visual arts courses, theatre, student government, publications, and a plethora of clubs.
