Create a Ravenna profile. You will use Ravenna to register for an open house, to complete your online application, and to submit the application fee and all supplemental materials. Required materials include the Student Supplement (which should be submitted before the interview), teacher recommendations, transcripts, and a spontaneous writing assessment.
Wait to hear from us. Invitations to schedule interviews will be sent via email to families beginning in September. Please contact us for information about need-based fee waivers or reductions.
If applicable, apply for Financial Aid. Learn more about financial aid for BFS here. Please note that financial aid is not guaranteed for accepted applicants, particularly for those applying to grades that are not entry points.
Middle School Admissions
Integrating Core Academic Subjects with the Arts
Our Middle School builds on our Lower School’s integration of core academic subjects with the visual and performing arts, and actively prepares adolescents for our challenging Upper School curriculum. Quaker values of community, diversity, morality, stewardship, service, and the importance of social justice are integrated with a strong, exploratory academic curriculum.
Middle School begins in Fifth Grade. Grade size increases from Fifth Grade to Sixth Grade, and we welcome applications for these spaces. Fifth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade spaces are limited. The Middle School admissions process for all applicants begins with the creation of a Ravenna account and the submission of an online application.
Grades 5-8: The process includes a student and parent interview. All families who submit an online application by November 30 will be invited to schedule an interview. The $100 application fee must be paid at the time the application is submitted.
