Founders’ Day Kicks Off our 150th with Blue Pride
Brooklyn Friends kicked off its 150th year with a Founders’ Day Celebration filled with blue pride. On Friday, September 8, volunteers from the BFS at 150 Steering Committee and the PAT Executive Committee took over the lobbies of the Pearl and Lawrence Street buildings where they handed out student-designed BFS at 150 enamel pins to adorn backpacks and jackets and sold t-shirts to commemorate this milestone year. Our school mascot Pearl the Panther greeted friends and spread the message of blue pride for Brooklyn Friends and our 150 years. To top it all off, on display was a proclamation from Brooklyn Borough Hall declaring September 9, 2017 (September 9, 1867 is the day we first opened our doors) as “Brooklyn Friends School 150th Anniversary Day in Brooklyn USA”. We thank the BFS at 150 Steering Committee, the PAT, and Pearl the Panther for making this a special and spirited day for our community. Save the date for our next BFS at 150 celebration: Family Fun Day at Prospect Park on Saturday, October 21st. Wear your pins and t-shirts!
