PAST EVENT: Come See CLOSE HARMONY, an Oscar-Winning Film about BFS Intergenerational Chorus, from 1981
On Friday, May 18th, the Jewish Parent Affinity Group, along with the PAT and the BFS Sesquicentennial Committee, hosts a cultural celebration featuring the 1982 Academy Award winning documentary short film, CLOSE HARMONY. The program begins at 6pm in the BFS meetinghouse, 375 Pearl Street
This 30-minute film features BFS lower schoolers and a chorus of elderly retirees at a Brooklyn Jewish senior center who formed an intergenerational chorus under the direction of BFS music teacher Arlene Symons.
Director/Filmmaker Nigel Nobel will be in attendance to answer questions after the screening.
A Klezmer music performance by BFS students and Annette Ezekiel Kogan, from the Klezmer band Golem rounds out the event, with a potluck dinner afterwards. We are offering childcare from 6-7pm, during the film screening; children will rejoin their families for the potluck dinner.
