Summer Reading

Summer is a great time for children and adults alike to spend extra time reading! Please find below Brooklyn Friends School’s required reading for our Middle and Upper School students, as well as a list of great titles for all ages curated by our Library colleagues. We have also included the reading that our colleagues will do this summer, in case you would like to join them!

The common read for colleagues for 2022-2023 is Liza Talusan’s The Identity-Conscious Educator. Colleagues also chose between one of the following options: bell hooks’ All About Love, Qian Julie Wang’s Beautiful Country: A Memoir, and the documentary The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. Colleagues will engage together in discussions and activities around these texts and media as a colleague community in August and throughout the coming school year.
