BFS Holds All-Community Shabbat Dinner
In what can only be described as a room filled with genuine community, nearly 300 students, colleagues, extended family members, and friends packed into the Pearl Street Lower Gym on Friday night, February 2, for a joyous Shabbat service and dinner.
“Tonight, we are here in celebration,” said Head of School Crissy Cáceres to open the evening. “I have to say what I am most proud of is that it was our students who said ‘we really would love to have an all-community Shabbat.’ We think that our students’ voices are mighty and beautiful, and we listened. To all of our students, thank you.”
The opening prayers and songs were led beautifully by Rabbi Matt Reimer (P Izabel ’26 and Ayla ’30). As Rabbi Matt chanted the prayer for Shabbat, Crissy lit the Shabbat candles and the evening was underway.
“I just wanted to thank you for planning and executing the most amazing Shabbat Community Dinner,” one BFS parent said. “It was truly perfect.”
Of course, no Shabbat dinner would be complete without delicious food—and there was plenty of that for everyone! Not to mention the outstanding desserts provided by our families. You can watch a short video from the event here.
