Applying to Middle School
(Grades 5–8)

Integrating Core Academic Subjects with the Arts

Our Middle School (grades 5, 6, 7, & 8) builds on our Lower School’s integration of core academic subjects with the visual and performing arts, and actively prepares adolescents for our challenging Upper School curriculum. Quaker values of community, diversity, morality, stewardship, service, and the importance of social justice are integrated with a strong, exploratory academic curriculum.

Applying to Middle School

A Brooklyn Friends School application includes several required components. To help you stay organized, please refer to the steps listed below.

Families must create a Ravenna account to access our online admissions portal. Once your account is active, you’ll be able to view detailed requirements, complete application steps, and register for admissions events.

Middle School Steps

  • PRELIMINARY APPLICATION
    • Applications open during the first week of September. Please register in Ravenna and submit the non-refundable application fee. 
    • Deadline: November 21, 2025
  • ACADEMIC RECORDS
    • Download the Transcript Request Form in Ravenna and either print or email it to your child’s current school to request records from 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and Fall 2025. 
  • ISAAGNY CURRENT ENGLISH AND MATH TEACHER EVALUATIONS
    • Delegate the Current English and Math Teacher Evaluations via Ravenna to your child’s teachers. If your child has one teacher for both subjects, they may complete both forms.
    • Deadline: January 8, 2026
  • APPLICANT VISIT DAY & PARENT/GUARDIAN INFORMATION SESSION
    • Appointments will be available in Ravenna.
  • PARENT/GUARDIAN INTERVIEW
    • Interviews (either in-person or on Zoom) will be conducted for families who submit a preliminary application by the deadline. Appointments will be available on Ravenna.
  • STUDENT SUPPLEMENT
    • Students will complete short essays responding to several prompts via Ravenna.
  • FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION
    • Families who would like to apply for financial aid must submit an application in Clarity. 
    • Deadline: January 8, 2026
  • OPTIONAL: ATTEND AN OPEN HOUSE
  • OPTIONAL: ATTEND A MIDDLE SCHOOL TOUR
