Understanding Gender Connect & Talks for Families

Join us at one of our upcoming Connect & Talks on Understanding Gender hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging.
Meeting Details
Our understanding of gender has shifted and expanded in the last 10 years and it can be hard to keep up with the changes. Please join Janah Boccio, LCSW, MEd, as she explains gender development in young children and teens, navigates through the shifting language used to describe the ever-expanding experience of the concept of gender, and how best to support young people as they explore this very important part of themselves. We welcome families by division to the Connect & Talks on:
Wednesday, March 2
12-1pm: Preschool and Family Center
7-8pm: Upper School
Tuesday, March 8
12-1pm: Lower School
7-8pm: Middle School
About Janah Boccio, LCSW, MEd.:
Janah has over 15 years of experience working with students, parents and educators about sex, gender and sexuality. In addition to having experience working as a social worker at an independent school in New York City, Janah maintains a psychotherapy practice where she works with adolescents and adults focusing mainly on gender and sexuality as well as anxiety and life transitions. Janah has created workshops and written advice columns for parents and caregivers on how to talk to kids about sex and sexuality, and has presented to parents and Pre-K through 12th grade educators on gender and sexuality development as both a consultant in schools and at various conferences. Janah received her BA in Psychology from Macalester College, her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work, and her MEd from Widener University. She is currently working towards her PhD in Sexuality Education at Widener University.
