This is a special opportunity to experience a very important aspect of our school’s identity through the practice that grounds our students’ days at Brooklyn Friends School. Just prior to this event, a few students will offer music as individuals enter. In the quiet of worship, Friends and families may center together, reflect, and listen deeply in community. Community Action: Food Drive for Vinegar Hill Food Pantry

In partnership with the Vinegar Hill Food Pantry and our Global Social Impact Team, our Early Childhood and Lower School Learning Community is leading a food drive aligned with our Quaker values of community, equality, and stewardship. Vinegar Hill Food Pantry serves residents of the Farragut Houses and surrounding neighborhoods—nearly 175 families each week.

Goal: Collect enough items to help create 175 grocery bags for local families.
Collection window: October 28–November 21
Drop-off: Collection box next to the Pearl Street lobby elevators

Class Donations

• 2s Yellow & Blue — Reusable bags (Costco, Dumbo Market, Target, etc.)
• 3s Pink & Purple — Bagged dried fruit
• 4s Orange Room & Turquoise — Canned beans or legumes
• 4s Green Room & KA — Seaweed or crackers
• KB & 1A — Canned fruit
• 1B & 1C — Canned vegetables
• 2A & 2B — Canned soup
• 2C & 3A — Canned tuna, chicken, salmon, or sardines
• 3B & 3C — Bagged or boxed pasta, rice, or quinoa
• 4A & 4B — Sauces (tomato, pesto, cheese, etc.)
