BFS Students Take Part in Model UN Conference

Thirteen members of the BFS Upper School spent the day on November 3, engaged in solving world issues at the 39th Annual Horace Mann Model UN conference.

In all, more than 25 schools and 700 delegates debated a variety of relevant global issues, including the humanitarian rights crisis in prisons, the International Monetary Fund, Terrorist Proliferation of Weapons, UN Peacekeeping Measures, and technology and decolonization.

The morning began with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch speaking about her involvement in various high profile cases,  including the Rwandan Tribunal among others. She encouraged the delegates to practice deep listening—not just throughout the day—but throughout their lives.

BFS students joined committees and had a great day of learning and reflecting on process and outcomes.
