Our Strategic Vision

BFS 2024–25 Bus Program

Dear BFS Families,

As communicated this past spring, we are excited to be able to expand our bus routes to provide access for many additional families for this school year, once again partnering with Brooklyn Shuttle. BFS will continue to take a scaffolded approach with our transportation system, guided by the statistical analysis of families like yourselves who indicated interest in a transportation offering last spring, as well as a geographical analysis of current and new BFS families.

Now that our analysis is complete, here are the neighborhoods that will have service to and from BFS with Brooklyn Shuttle for the 2024–2025 school year. PLEASE NOTE: As we complete the final logistics for the new school year, our plan is to begin bus transportation on Monday, Sept. 9.

  • Bed Stuy
  • Brooklyn Heights
  • Crown Heights
  • Flatbush
  • Greenpoint
  • Park Slope
  • Prospect Heights
  • Red Hook
  • Williamsburg
  • Windsor Terrace

Please Note: Our bus program does not include door-to-door service from every student’s home. The exact stop location—as well as pickup and drop off times—are in the final stages of determination and families will receive that information in the coming days. Brooklyn Shuttle will make every effort to ensure that each family resides just a short distance from the designated bus stop. In addition, at this point in time, buses will not be able to accommodate students attending BFX.

Our bus program currently serves BFS students in grades K–8, with exceptions for older siblings. In the first few weeks of school, we will evaluate the possibility of allowing families of students in grades 9–12 to enroll their child(ren) in the bus program. If approved, these older students will participate in a short workshop to reinforce the importance of being mindful of younger students and upholding our school’s values during the bus rides.

Families who would like to have their child(ren) ride the bus to and from Brooklyn Friends School would be billed $4,200 per child for the school year ($25/day/child). This is based on the number of school days. Due to the fact that buses must be paid for in advance, there will be no prorated costs if students do not ride on all days.

If you would like to enroll in this transportation program, please complete this form ASAP and let us know which neighborhood your child(ren) plan to utilize. Please note that submitting this form indicates a commitment to the program.

I thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process. If you have any questions, please contact me at transportation@brooklynfriends.org. I hope you are enjoying Labor Day weekend—we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school this week! AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE: Bus transportation will begin on Monday, Sept. 9.

In friendship,
