The BFS at 150 Anniversary Gala & Alumni Weekend
In September of 1867, Brooklyn Friends School opened its doors to 17 students at the Brooklyn Monthly Meeting House on Schermerhorn Street. Teachers guided by Quaker values, supported our children, bringing out the Light in each individual. This tradition continues today and during the 2017-2018 school year, Brooklyn Friends recognized its 150th anniversary.
The culminating events of the year were our Sesquicentennial Gala celebration on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Brooklyn Museum and Alumni Day on Saturday, May 12, 2018. The special 150th Anniversary Gala brought past and current members of our school community together at the Brooklyn Museum to celebrate this significant milestone and honor the generations of faculty and staff who have supported each child that has passed through our doors. While the event was certainly a joyous celebration, the Gala continued to serve as the main fundraising effort for financial aid at Brooklyn Friends School, raising a record-breaking $150,000.
