Game Highlights from the Week of Oct. 22, 2012


On Monday the BFS MS/US Cross Country team competed in the ISAL Championship Meet up at Van Cortlandt Park.  BFS eighth grader Miles N. ran a time of 7:48 to place him in 1st.  Miles has won all seven meets he has competed in this season.  Way to go Miles!  Fellow eighth grader Emmitt S. ran a time of 9:15 to finish in 11th place and seventh grader Milo H. ran a time of 11:27 to finish in 27th place out of 29 total runners.  Senior Jose U. led the Boys Varsity team, while sophomore Giovanna M. led the Girls Varsity team with a time of 24.53 (11th place). Sophomore Maya K. ran a time of 31.37 and finished in 19th place.

The BFS Girls Varsity Soccer team won for the 9th time this season as they defeated Bay Ridge Prep 6-0 down at Red Hook.  Captain Julia.G scored a brace of goals to secure Brooklyn Friends School’s first ever league title for Girls Soccer with a perfect undefeated league record in the ISAL League!  BFS aslo received goals from Clara S. (2), Naya C., and Halima M.  BFS will play in the League Championship Game on Thursday at Red Hook Field #,  kick off 4pm.  Blue Pride!!


The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball team played one of the best games of the season as they defeated LFNY 2-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-16) in the upper gym to advance to the ISAL Championship Game this Friday vs. Dwight (@ LFNY) at 5:00pm.  It was a great team effort, led by senior co-captain Herron H. who had one of the best games of the season with 4 aces, 11 digs and 2 kills; everyone who played contributed greatly to the win; middle hitter Abby M. and Fiona S. stepped up their blocking and hitting, Anna M., Chloe B., and Sarah M. showed great determination with their offense and defense, and our role players Sofia S., Taty R., Sidney A., and Karie M. played steady defense!  Our setter,  freshman Caroline C. kept her cool providing for the transition with her great setting choices.  The girls really wanted to win this one and put themselves in position to compete for another championship!  Blue Pride!!


We are the Champions!! – On Thursday the BFS Girls Varsity Soccer team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox in the ISAL Championship Game down at Red Hook in front of over 75 BFS Fans – Blue Pride!!  Thanks to everyone who made this season a huge success.  The team played a wonderful championship game.  This was BFS’ first ever Girls Varsity Championship.  Congrats to the players, coaches, managers, family, and friends.  10-1-3 what a season.  Blue Pride Runs Deep, Friends Forever…see you next year.
