On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball team defeated York Prep 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-11) in the upper gym in its first game of the season. During the first set, both teams showed some inexperience and nerves. Our opponent took the lead and won. In the second set, after we settled
down, and we made a rotation adjustment, BFS started playing better. We
got progressively better set after
set, improving our ball control and each of the scores. It was a good
learning experience for
all involved. Communication, consistency, and aggressive play pay off. Everyone
on the team learned how important it is to focus on his individual role,
keep the play simple and focused.
Sophomore Thomas C. led the way offensively and defensively; senior Sebastian J. owned the net
with his blocking, and sophomore Lucas M. provided great serving abilities. Sophomore Griffin
E. and freshman Quran D. did a great job in
transition with their consistent setting.
Seniors Alex D-L, Nick E. and freshmen Kamal G. and Tyler V. contributed with their overall improved
play. It was a great display of
team play, and a positive start of the season! We are looking forward to more success on the court this Spring. Blue Pride!!
