Join Jonathan Edmonds and Kate Minear (Lower School Math Specialists) to learn about the big ideas, skills, and strategies that students learn in number operations from Kindergarten to Fourth grade. They will present about the important relationships and visual models we use to explore how numbers are composed and how we can add, subtract, multiply, and divide.  We’ll discuss the use of a variety of strategies rooted in sense making, including traditional algorithms and hope participants will take away an appreciation of the rich thinking and problem solving that Lower Schoolers do and gain insight into how they can engage with their children in math at home.
