“150 Years of Light” on Mon. Jan. 29

Witness and honor the history, legacy, and treasures of Brooklyn Friends School on January 29, 2018. At a special event to be held at the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street at 6:30pm, the BFS Sesquicentennial Committee will present the culmination of two remarkable projects in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Brooklyn Friends School:

  • All That Dwell in the Light is an oral history and archival project that will be presented as a museum exhibition for all of Brooklyn to enjoy. A preview of photographs and video clips is here.

  • The official book launch of Brooklyn Friends School: 150 Years of Light — a 122-page people’s history account of images, facts and fascinating stories from 150 years of the BFS archives and primary sources.  Order now.

“150 Years of Light” will  feature a guest speaker  — Brooklyn Historian Ron Schweiger — and celebratory reception with the music of the Middle School Chamber Orchestra.

For an educational institution to reach a 150th anniversary is noteworthy and a cause for reflection and celebration.
